AP CM Naidu, Dy CM Pawan Kalyan launch Rs11,085-cr rural development works in Udayagiri
Udayagiri, Sept. 29 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday launched rural development works worth ₹11,085 crore under the Palle Panduga 3.0 programme at Ramapuram village in Varikuntapadu mandal of Udayagiri constituency.
Addressing a public meeting, Naidu said the programme was ushering in a new phase of rural development, with the government focusing on strengthening the rural economy and improving infrastructure in villages.
He said the government was constructing Gokulam sheds and magic drains and working to ensure that every eligible family had a house, house site, electricity connection and solar panels.
The Chief Minister praised Pawan Kalyan for leading three editions of Palle Panduga and making a distinct contribution to village development.
He said Gram Sabhas had been organised simultaneously in all 13,326 villages across the state to launch development programmes.
After a gap of 25 years, promotions had been granted to 10,000 employees working in various positions in the Panchayat Raj system, while ₹4,136 crore had been released under the 15th Finance Commission.
Naidu said the Panchayat Raj Department had received 13 national awards under Pawan Kalyan’s leadership.
Referring to the continuing impact of El Niño, he said the government was taking measures to address drinking water shortages and protect horticultural crops.
The Chief Minister appealed to people from Nellore and Udayagiri who had settled elsewhere to return and contribute to the development of their native regions.
He urged people to support the government’s development initiatives.
Naidu also announced several development measures for the constituency, including an allocation of ₹85 crore for Phase I of the Somasila high-level canal.
Other initiatives include funds for Somasila dam safety and maintenance, development of the Krakaturoo distributary, completion of the Rajavolu Lift Irrigation Scheme to meet drinking water and irrigation needs in the Vinjamur region, and uninterrupted power supply to the compressed biogas (CBG) plant.
He announced ₹100 crore to provide safe drinking water to 189 fluoride-affected villages in the Kanigiri region. Drinking water problems in Oletivaripalem, Gudluru and Lingasamudram mandals would be addressed through the Rallapadu Reservoir.
The Chief Minister also said the government would extend support for establishing an Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in the Kanigiri-Ballipalle region and referred to the proposed Defence Manufacturing Hub.
