AP Attracted Rs 22.6 Lakh Cr Investments Through 714 Projects Since June 2024: Dy CM Pawan Kalyan
Addressing a regional conference of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada (JNTUK), as the chief guest, he said the investments were expected to generate 7.1 lakh jobs and called upon industrialists to make use of the facilities and incentives offered by the government to establish industries in the state.
Describing Andhra Pradesh as an attractive destination for investors, Pawan Kalyan said the state government was working to create a conducive industrial environment.
He said the situation in the past, when industrialists allegedly faced demands for a share in their businesses, was now a thing of the past.
“Our policy is to ask investors what they will contribute to the state and its development,” he said, adding that the government was committed to extending support, expediting permissions and providing necessary incentives.
The Deputy Chief Minister urged industrialists to reciprocate by creating employment opportunities for young people, adopting environmentally responsible practices and undertaking community welfare initiatives through corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds.
He cited industrialist Jamsetji Tata’s contributions to the country’s development as an inspiration.
Referring to Kakinada’s role in the state’s industrial growth, he said hosting the CII regional conference after Visakhapatnam marked an important milestone for the region.
Investments worth ₹6,347 crore were being brought to Kakinada, opening up new opportunities for economic growth, he said.
He welcomed the signing of 16 memoranda of understanding involving investments of ₹4,652 crore and the laying of foundation stones for four projects worth ₹2,090 crore.
These projects were expected to generate employment for around 18,000 people in Kakinada and its surrounding areas, benefiting local youth and their families, he said.
Pawan Kalyan identified maritime industries, shipbuilding, green hydrogen, chemicals, food processing and aquaculture as sectors with significant growth potential in Kakinada.
He said the region could develop rapidly by leveraging these opportunities.
Stressing the importance of clarity, unity and national commitment in achieving economic progress, he cited Singapore as an example of development.
He said the state was working under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to attract investments and accelerate industrial growth.
He also called for environmental protection alongside industrial expansion, noting that Andhra Pradesh’s 1,053-km coastline required sustained conservation efforts.
He urged industries to cooperate with the government in developing a “Great Green Wall” along the coast to promote greenery and protect the coastal environment.
State Ministers T.G. Bharat, B.C. Janardhan Reddy and Kandula Durgesh, MPs Thangella Uday Srinivas, Harish Madhur and Sana Sathish Babu, and CII Andhra Pradesh Vice-Chairman Sambasiva Rao were among those who attended the conference.
