AMIM Prez Owaisi Raises Concern Over Declining Muslim Representation, Calls for Political Justice

Hyderabad, June 19 (TNT): AIMIM President and Hyderabad M, Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday expressed concern over the declining representation of Muslims in Parliament and State Legislative Assemblies, saying adequate representation of all communities is essential for ensuring political justice.

In a post on X, Owaisi described as “very important” an article on Muslim representation in elected bodies and noted that the community’s representation has been steadily declining since 2014.

“No democracy can progress if 14 per cent of its population is invisibilised from the nation’s decision-making,” he said.

The AIMIM chief said Article 38 of the Constitution emphasises social, economic and political justice and asserted that political justice requires every community to have a fair share in the decision-making process.

“Political justice means that every community has a fair share in decision-making. Without political justice, there cannot be social or economic justice,” he said.

Owaisi stressed the need for greater inclusivity in democratic institutions to ensure equitable participation of all sections of society in governance and policymaking.
