AINRC chief N. Rangasamy sworn in as Chief Minister of Puducherry

Puducherry, May 13 (TNT): N. Rangasamy, founder of All India N.R. Congress and head of the National Democratic Alliance in the Union Territory, was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Puducherry for the fifth time on Wednesday.

Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan administered the oaths of office and secrecy to Rangasamy at a ceremony held at Lok Niwas.

Along with Rangasamy, A. Namassivayam, legislature party leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and AINRC legislator Malladi Krishna Rao were sworn in as Ministers in the second NDA government in the Union Territory.

The 76-year-old Rangasamy earlier served as Puducherry Chief Minister from 2001 to 2006 and again from 2006 to 2008 as a leader of the Indian National Congress. After founding the AINRC, he served as Chief Minister from 2011 to 2016 and later headed the AINRC-BJP alliance government from 2021 to 2026.

In the 30-member Puducherry Legislative Assembly, the NDA has the support of 18 MLAs, two more than the majority mark.

Although the Assembly has 33 seats, three members are nominated by the Union Government.

BJP National President Nitian Nabin also attended the swearing-in ceremony.
