Telangana CS reviews arrangements for State-level Independence Day celebrations

Hyderabad, Aug 3 (TNT): Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on Monday directed officials to make comprehensive arrangements for the State-level Independence Day celebrations to be held at the historic Rani Mahal Lawns in Golconda Fort on August 15.

Chairing a high-level coordination meeting at the Secretariat, Jaju said the Independence Day celebrations are among the state’s most important official events and should be conducted with meticulous planning, seamless coordination and due dignity.

He said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy would begin the day’s programme by paying floral tributes to martyrs at the Veerula Sainik Smarak at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, before proceeding to Golconda Fort to unfurl the National Flag, inspect the ceremonial parade and address the gathering.

The Chief Secretary instructed all departments concerned to ensure foolproof arrangements for security, traffic management, venue preparedness, public convenience and emergency response.

He directed the Roads and Buildings Department to complete all infrastructure works, including the stage, seating arrangements, barricading, approach roads and other civil works, within the stipulated time.

The Police Department was asked to make elaborate security and traffic arrangements to facilitate the smooth movement of dignitaries and participants, while the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) was directed to undertake sanitation, landscaping and beautification works at and around the venue.

Jaju instructed the Health Department to deploy adequate medical teams, ambulances and first-aid facilities, and asked the Fire Services Department to station fire tenders and emergency response teams as a precautionary measure.

The Energy Department was directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply with adequate backup arrangements throughout the event.

Emphasising the need for close coordination among departments, the Chief Secretary directed officials to complete all assigned works well ahead of schedule to ensure the celebrations are conducted in a grand and befitting manner.

Special Chief Secretaries Vikas Raj, Navin Mittal and Vani Prasad, GAD (Political) Principal Secretary Ahmed Nadeem, Home Principal Secretary Shikha Goel, DGP (Law and Order) Mahesh Bhagwat, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, Fire Services Director General Vikram Singh Mann, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, Special Commissioner, Information and Public Relations, Mukunda Reddy, and senior officials attended the meeting.
