Telangana CS directs strengthening of MeeSeva centres, expansion of digital services in Telangana

Hyderabad, Aug 3 (TNT): Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on Monday directed officials to prepare comprehensive action plans to strengthen MeeSeva centres across the state and ensure faster, efficient and citizen-friendly digital services.

During a meeting at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat with a World Bank delegation led by Mahesh Uttamchandani, Regional Director for Digital – Asia Pacific, the Chief Secretary reviewed initiatives aimed at improving digital governance and expanding technology-based public services.

The meeting discussed modernisation of MeeSeva centres in line with the goals of Digital India and Viksit Bharat–2047, development of infrastructure for new data centres in Bharat Future City, adoption of Artificial Intelligence, cyber security, Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and creation of IT-based employment opportunities for youth.

World Bank representatives appreciated the digital governance reforms being implemented by the Telangana government and shared suggestions on technical support, knowledge partnerships and adoption of global best practices to enhance digital capabilities, public service delivery and data governance.

The representatives said Telangana and Haryana are among the states with strong potential for digital sector investments and suggested preparation of detailed project reports to attract investments of around ₹2,000 crore.

Later, Jaju held a review meeting on the T-Fiber project and assessed progress in expanding broadband connectivity in rural and urban areas, infrastructure development and extension of digital services.

The Chief Secretary directed officials to complete T-Fiber works within the prescribed timelines and ensure quality digital connectivity reaches citizens.

He also instructed departments to resolve implementation issues through better coordination and regularly monitor the progress of the project.

The meeting was attended by IT Department Joint Secretary Anudeep Durishetty, World Bank Digital–Asia Pacific Regional Director Mahesh Uttamchandani, T-Fiber Managing Director and senior officials from concerned departments.
