AP: Peddapuram RDO’s House Burgled, Gold and Cash Stolen
Kakinada, July 26 (TNT): Burglars struck at the residence of the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO), Peddapuram, in Ramaraopeta area of Peddapuram town on Saturday night, making away with gold jewellery and cash while the family was asleep.
Police said the intruders allegedly entered the house after forcing open the rear door and decamped with gold ornaments weighing about 10 sovereigns and ₹70,000 in cash.
The burglary came to light on Sunday morning when family members found the steel almirah open and clothes and other household articles scattered inside the house.
Acting on a complaint lodged by the RDO, Peddapuram DSP Tilak, along with Circle Inspector Y.R.K. Srinivas and Sub-Inspector Paparao, visited the scene and carried out a preliminary investigation.
A clues team and dog squad from Kakinada were pressed into service to collect forensic evidence and assist in tracing the culprits.
Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the burglary.
