IPS officers’ spouses contribute indirectly to nation-building: Telangana Governor
Hyderabad, July 24 (TNT): Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Friday said the dedication and commitment of IPS officers towards public service are supported by the sacrifices, understanding and encouragement of their family members, particularly their spouses.
Interacting with members of the IPS Officers’ Wives Association (IPSOWA), Telangana, at Lok Bhavan here, the Governor said the wives of IPS officers also contribute indirectly to the service of the nation by supporting their spouses in their demanding responsibilities.
Addressing the gathering at the Darbar Hall, Shukla appreciated the efforts of IPSOWA and urged the association to further expand its initiatives in social service, women’s empowerment, education, healthcare and welfare of police families.
He said organisations like IPSOWA could play an important role in bringing positive change in society through sustained community outreach and welfare activities.
Earlier, around 50 members of IPSOWA met the Governor’s wife Janaki Shukla and briefed her about the association’s welfare and community service initiatives.
The members also visited the Main House, Darbar Hall and gardens at Lok Bhavan.
Deputy Secretary to the Governor G. Pallavi explained the history, heritage and significance of Lok Bhavan during the visit.
The programme was attended by Governor’s wife Janaki Shukla, Special Chief Secretary to the Governor M. Dana Kishore, Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services Soumya Mishra, IPSOWA President Lalitha Anand, General Secretary Ritu Jain, Joint Secretary to the Governor Shashikiran Achari, Deputy Secretary G. Pallavi and members of the association.
