AP CM reviews students’ performance at Parents-Teachers meeting in Rampachodavaram
Rampachodavaram, July 24 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday reviewed students’ academic performance during the fourth Parents-Teachers Meeting held at the Government Upper Primary School in Rampachodavaram and stressed the need for greater parental participation in education.
Interacting with students, parents and teachers, the Chief Minister personally reviewed students’ report cards and explained their academic performance, attendance and health status to parents.
Naidu directed the District Collector to ensure that report cards of students studying in residential Ashram schools are delivered to their parents at their homes for easy access.
He also reviewed the use of smart boards in classrooms.
Several tribal women who interacted with the Chief Minister said the State government’s ‘Talliki Vandanam’ scheme had reduced their financial burden by providing financial assistance for every child, enabling them to continue their children’s education.
They also said improvements in infrastructure, teaching standards and nutritious mid-day meals had increased confidence in government schools.
The women said the ‘Stri Shakti’ free bus travel scheme had enabled them to travel to nearby towns for business activities, thereby improving their livelihoods.
Education Minister Nara Lokesh informed the Chief Minister that the government had extended the benefits of the Talliki Vandanam scheme to eligible Anganwadi staff.
The Chief Minister appreciated students for nurturing saplings on the school campus. Officials informed him that each plant had been tagged with a QR code providing information about the tree, while Green Passports had been issued to students to promote environmental awareness.
Calling upon students to contribute to increasing the State’s green cover, Naidu urged them to continue protecting the saplings they had adopted.
Earlier, the Chief Minister and Education Minister Nara Lokesh were accorded a traditional welcome by tribal women.
They paid floral tributes to the statue of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju and offered prayers to Goddess Saraswati before participating in the programme.
