Telangana Govt releases Rs 740-Cr for rural healthcare, 1,569 new sub-centres to be built
Hyderabad, July 24 (TNT): The Telangana government on Friday released ₹740 crore to the Health Department for strengthening primary healthcare infrastructure in rural areas, with plans to construct 1,569 new health sub-centres and expand free diagnostic services across villages.
According to official orders, the funds were released by Finance Department Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania under the guidance of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka.
The allocation is aimed at improving access to quality healthcare in rural areas by enhancing grassroots medical infrastructure and bringing essential health services closer to villages.
As part of the initiative, 1,569 new health sub-centres will be established across the state to strengthen the primary healthcare network.
The government also plans to provide free diagnostic services at the village level, reducing the need for rural residents to travel to urban centres for basic medical tests.
The initiative is expected to facilitate early diagnosis of diseases, ensure timely treatment and reduce out-of-pocket medical expenses for poor and middle-class families.
The government said the funding would significantly improve rural healthcare infrastructure while enhancing the accessibility and quality of medical services across the state.
