AP: USA devotees undertake Grama Seva in Sri Sathya Sai district
Puttaparthi, July 21 (TNT): Devotees from the United States belonging to Zone-I of the Sri Sathya Sai Global Council (SSSGC), currently on a pilgrimage to Prasanthi Nilayam, on Tuesday undertook Grama Seva at Chennepetta village in Chennekothapalli mandal of Sri Sathya Sai district as part of their service activities.
Led by SSSGC-USA National President Prof. Balu Karanam, the devotees travelled from Puttaparthi to the village, where they were joined by Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust Managing Trustee R.J. Rathnakar, office-bearers of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations and other volunteers.
The visiting devotees were accorded a traditional welcome by villagers.
As part of the programme, essential grocery kits under the Amrutha Kalasha initiative and stationery kits for children were distributed to all 150 families in the village.
Addressing the gathering, Rathnakar recalled Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s message, “Bhajana unte vibhajana undadu” (Where there is bhajan, there is no division), and said collective devotion fosters unity, harmony and peace in society.
He appreciated the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Andhra Pradesh, for establishing 45 Bhajan Mandalis across all 45 villages in Chennekothapalli mandal.
He also highlighted the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust’s Ragi Java initiative, under which a nutritious millet-based health drink is being supplied to more than 3.2 million government school students in Andhra Pradesh.
He said the Trust, in collaboration with the State Government, was also promoting Human Values education in government schools and had so far trained over 4,000 government teachers under the programme.
National Seva Coordinator S. Koteswara Rao, Andhra Pradesh State President of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations R. Lakshmana Rao, office-bearers from the United States, volunteers, devotees and villagers participated in the programme.
