Centre announces India Mining Week 2026 from Nov 15 to 17; launches portal for coal exchanges

New Delhi, July 15 (TNT): Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Wednesday announced India Mining Week 2026, a three-day international conference and exhibition for the mining and minerals sector, to be held in New Delhi from November 15 to 17.

The Union minister, along with Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey, unveiled the event’s logo and brochure at the curtain-raiser programme.

During the event, Kishan Reddy also launched the online portal for registration of coal exchanges and the eighth tranche of auctions for critical and strategic mineral blocks.

The summit, to be organised under the theme “Stronger Resources, Smarter Mining, Sustainable Tomorrow”, aims to bring together governments, industry, investors, technology providers, researchers and academia to promote innovation, investment and sustainable mining practices.

Addressing the gathering, Kishan Reddy said India Mining Week 2026 would serve as a global platform to showcase India’s mining reforms, resource potential and technological capabilities while strengthening international partnerships.

He said reforms such as transparent mineral auctions, commercial coal mining and technology-driven governance have positioned India among the world’s most attractive mining destinations.

Satish Chandra Dubey said the mining sector is emerging as a major driver of economic growth, employment and regional development, while emphasising the need for collaboration among governments, industry and academia.

Coal Secretary Vikram Dev Dutt said India has recorded more than one billion tonnes of coal production for two consecutive years, reflecting the transformation of the sector through structural reforms and improved transparency.

Mines Secretary Piyush Goyal said the upcoming eighth round of auctions for critical and strategic mineral blocks would strengthen domestic availability of critical minerals, encourage private investment and reinforce India’s mineral value chains.

The ministry said India Mining Week 2026 is expected to attract over 25,000 participants, 500 exhibitors, 200 speakers, delegates from more than 50 countries and representatives from over 300 mining and mineral companies, making it the country’s largest gathering for the mining sector.
