Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam performed ahead of TTD’s annual Anivara Asthanam
Tirumala, July 14 (TNT): Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Tuesday performed the Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam, the traditional temple purification ritual, at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple ahead of the annual Salakatla Anivara Asthanam, scheduled to be held on July 17.
Speaking to reporters after the ritual, TTD Executive Officer Muddada Ravichandra, accompanied by Additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, said the ceremonial cleansing is conducted four times every year before Ugadi, Anivara Asthanam, Srivari Brahmotsavam and Vaikuntha Ekadasi, in accordance with Agama traditions.
As part of the ritual, the temple premises—from Ananda Nilayam to the Bangaru Vakili, including subsidiary shrines, the temple courtyard, Potu, walls, roof and puja articles—were thoroughly cleaned with water.
During the purification process, the presiding deity was covered with a ceremonial cloth.
After the cleansing, the temple was sprinkled with a fragrant herbal mixture, following which the covering on the deity was removed and special pujas and Naivedyam were offered before reopening the temple for devotees’ darshan.
In view of the ritual, the Ashtadala Padapadmaradhana Seva was cancelled for the day.
TTD Joint Executive Officer Dr A. Sharath, Chief Vigilance and Security Officer Muralikrishna, Temple Deputy Executive Officer Lokanatham, TTD Board members and other officials participated in the programme.
