Telangana CM urges Gadkari to expedite RRR approvals, seek Cabinet nod for northern section

New Delhi, July 14 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday urged Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to secure Union Cabinet approval for the pending northern section of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) and begin construction works at the earliest.

The Chief Minister met Gadkari at his residence in New Delhi and discussed several key road infrastructure projects related to Telangana.

Revanth Reddy informed the Union Minister that 95 per cent of land acquisition for the northern part of the RRR had already been completed and requested necessary approvals for the southern section as well.

The Chief Minister said simultaneous execution of the northern and southern sections of the RRR would help complete the project faster and reduce construction costs.

Revanth Reddy also highlighted the importance of the proposed greenfield highway connecting Hyderabad with Amaravati, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh, stating that the project was envisaged under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

He urged the Centre to accord approval and issue necessary orders for the highway.

He further explained the significance of the proposed 12-lane highway from Bharat Future City to Bandar Port via Amaravati, which would reduce the travel distance between Hyderabad and Vijayawada by nearly 100 km and improve freight movement between Hyderabad and Bandar Port.

The Chief Minister also sought approval for the Mannanur-Srisailam elevated corridor, pending forest clearances due to its passage through the Nallamala Sanctuary, Srisailam Temple area and reservoir region.

Revanth Reddy requested sanction for a six-lane alternative highway between Mancherial and Hyderabad to supplement the existing Rajiv Rahadari.

He said the state government was ready to undertake the required land acquisition and that the project would create new opportunities for agriculture, trade and industry.

Nalgonda MP Raghuveer Reddy, R&B Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Government Advisor and Ex-officio Special Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Special Secretary (Coordination) Advait Kumar Singh and other officials attended the meeting.
