Telangana CM Revanth confident of Congress retaining power in Telangana in 2029

Khammam, July 10 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday exuded confidence that the Congress would retain power in the 2029 Assembly elections by winning 117 of the proposed 182 Assembly seats.

The Chief Minister that its party would also secure 20 of the 26 Lok Sabha seats in the State after the proposed delimitation exercise.

Addressing the ‘Rythu Aashirwad Sabha’ at Jagannadhapuram in Khammam district after releasing Rythu Bharosa assistance to farmers and distributing e-Pattadar Passbooks, the Chief Minister said the Congress would return to power for a second consecutive term.

Claiming that the next Assembly elections were likely to be held in May or June 2029, Revanth Reddy said the number of Assembly constituencies in Telangana would increase from 119 to 182 and Lok Sabha seats from 17 to 26 following delimitation.

He called upon party workers to ensure the Congress won 20 of the 26 Lok Sabha seats and help make Rahul Gandhi the next Prime Minister.

He claimed the Congress had won every election held after forming the government in 2023 and alleged that former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) had been politically confined to his farmhouse.

Targeting senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao, Revanth Reddy challenged him to swear in the name of KCR that he would not join the BJP, while alleging that there was a lack of trust among members of the BRS leadership.

Referring to the Medigadda barrage, the Chief Minister said releasing water from the damaged structure would endanger Bhadrachalam and submerge 44 villages in Khammam district, rejecting the opposition’s demand to fill the barrage.

Highlighting his government’s welfare measures, Revanth Reddy said the Congress had implemented farmer support schemes, loan waiver, distribution of ration cards, supply of fine rice, 200 units of free electricity, Indiramma housing and enhanced Rythu Bharosa assistance to Rs 12,000 per annum.
