Telangana DSP booked in DA case; ACB seized raids 16 locations
Hyderabad, July 3 (TNT): The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets (DA) case against Sankireddy Bheem Reddy, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Police Computer Services (PCS), Hyderabad, and conducted simultaneous searches at 16 locations linked to him and his associates.
The case was registered under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018), alleging that the officer had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income through corrupt practices.
Searches were carried out on July 2 at his residence and 15 other premises belonging to relatives, friends, benamidars and associates, the ACB said in a release here on Friday.
During the searches, the ACB unearthed several immovable properties, including a villa, residential houses and flats in Hyderabad and Tellapur, commercial properties at Manikonda, open plots at Patancheru, Nagole and Mominpet, agricultural lands in Sangareddy, Karnataka and Vikarabad, besides an investment of Rs 75 lakh in a rock sand minerals company.
The agency also recovered Rs 43.6 lakh in cash, including Rs 3.6 lakh from the officer’s residence and Rs 40 lakh from the premises of an alleged benami.
Gold ornaments weighing about 2 kg, silver articles weighing about 20 kg and bank deposits of around Rs 19.91 lakh were also found.
The ACB said the market value of the seized immovable properties was likely to be much higher than their documented value.
During the searches, officials also found 23 foreign liquor bottles at the officer’s residence.
The matter has been referred to the Excise Department for further action.
The ACB said further verification of the assets is underway and investigation into the case is in progress.
