ZF Secures Three Major Automotive Testing Orders in India

Pune, June 30 (TNT): ZF Group ,  a global technology company supplying advanced mobility products and systems for passenger cars, commercial vehicles and industrial technology,  on Tuesday announced that it has secured three major orders for automotive testing systems in India, strengthening its role in supporting the country’s evolving vehicle safety and certification ecosystem.

The orders cover battery testing, tyre testing and e-axle testing, and are aimed at supporting India’s push for more robust, independent and globally benchmarked vehicle certification processes.

In a release, the company said its Test Systems business emphasises high local content under the ‘Make in India’ initiative and aligns with the Government of India’s efforts to strengthen domestic automotive manufacturing and testing capabilities.

The company noted that its test systems have been used to evaluate more than 100 million transmissions globally, underscoring their reliability and industry acceptance.

Akash Passey, President, ZF Group India, said the selection of ZF by multiple independent government testing agencies across three different testing disciplines reflected the company’s technological capabilities and understanding of India’s regulatory landscape.

“ZF Group is proud to provide the technical foundation that makes world-class automotive safety infrastructure possible in India, not just for our OEM customers but also for government and independent testing agencies,” he said.

Thomas Trebitsch, Vice President, ZF Test Systems and Testing,  said India’s rapidly evolving automotive regulations and increasing focus on road safety had created a growing demand for advanced testing technologies.

He said ZF’s global expertise and understanding of the Indian automotive industry would help address the country’s specific testing requirements.

ZF said its battery testing systems support the complete electric vehicle battery lifecycle—from cells and modules to battery packs—covering performance, endurance, environmental and mechanical safety tests. The systems comply with international and Indian standards, including UL, IEC, UN, IS and automotive standards such as LV124, while also supporting end-of-line production validation.

For tyre testing, the company highlighted its Tyre Efficiency Tester (TET.lab), which it described as the world’s most precise rolling resistance testing equipment.

The system is designed to meet global rolling resistance regulations and India’s emerging safety requirements, including the Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Programme (BNVSAP), Quality Control Orders (QCOs) and the AIS-142 Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) mandate.

ZF said more than 500 million tyres are tested annually using its tyre testing systems worldwide.

The company also said its modular e-mobility test benches are capable of testing conventional transmissions as well as electric drivetrains, offering flexible configurations and advanced automation for manufacturers and testing agencies.

The latest orders reinforce its position as a technology partner supporting India’s efforts to build a safer, more sustainable and globally competitive automotive industry, the company added.
