Singareni Sets Up First Cath Lab at Godavarikhani to Strengthen Cardiac Care in Coal Belt

Hyderabad, June 29 (TNT): Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has established its first state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization (Cath) Laboratory at the Ramagundam-I Area Hospital in Godavarikhani, significantly enhancing advanced cardiac care facilities for employees and residents of the coal belt.

The facility, which is ready for inauguration, has been set up in line with the Telangana Government’s vision of providing world-class super-specialty healthcare to Singareni employees and the public, the state-ownede Mining company said in a release on Monday.

Located in Godavarikhani, where nearly 33,000 Singareni employees reside, the Cath Lab has been established following the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu.

Developed over 7,890 square feet, the cardiology department houses a five-bed Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU), a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and a dedicated outpatient block with consultation rooms.

The facility is expected to benefit lakhs of people from Godavarikhani, Ramagundam, Mancherial, Bellampalli, Peddapalli, Bhupalpally, Manthani and surrounding areas.

Established under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the project will involve an expenditure of nearly ₹50 crore over seven years. Advanced cardiac treatment will also be made available to the general public at affordable rates based on the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) tariff structure.

The hospital is expected to treat more than 3,000 patients every month, with 50 per cent of the bed capacity reserved for Singareni employees, their family members and retired employees.

The Cath Lab will provide advanced cardiac diagnostic and interventional services, including coronary angiography, emergency angioplasty, coronary stenting and other interventional cardiology procedures.

SCCL Chief Medical Officer Kiran Raj Kumar said the facility would enable patients suffering cardiac emergencies to receive life-saving treatment during the crucial “Golden Hour”, eliminating the need for referrals to Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and other distant cities.

He said the initiative would benefit serving employees, pensioners and residents of Peddapalli, Mancherial, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad and Jayashankar Bhupalpally districts by ensuring timely access to advanced cardiac care.

SCCL spends more than ₹300 crore annually on healthcare for its employees, a substantial portion of which is spent on referrals to corporate hospitals.

During the previous year alone, around 3,000 employees and their family members suffering from cardiac ailments were referred to hospitals in Hyderabad and other cities for advanced treatment.

The company said the establishment of the Cath Lab reflects its commitment to employee welfare and is expected to improve survival rates by ensuring immediate access to advanced cardiac intervention in the coal belt.
