NxtWave Learners to Access IIT Kharagpur Micro-Specialisation Courses Under New Collaboration

Hyderabad, June 25 (TNT): Edtech startup NxtWave on Thursday announced that learners enrolling in 2026 under its NIAT upskilling initiative will gain access to micro-specialisation courses offered through the IIT Kharagpur Outreach Course Network (OCN), a Platinum Jubilee initiative of the premier institution.

The collaboration was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in the presence of IIT Kharagpur Director Prof. Suman Chakraborty, NxtWave Head of Partnerships Girish Akash, IIT Kharagpur Dean (Outreach) Prof. Swagata Dasgupta, Associate Dean (Outreach) Prof. Rajib Maity and other officials.

Under the partnership, NxtWave, as an onboarded partner of IIT Kharagpur OCN, will provide learners with structured exposure to advanced technology domains through IIT Kharagpur micro-specialisation courses alongside their regular programmes.

Eligible students who successfully complete the courses will receive an IIT Kharagpur OCN Micro-Specialisation Certificate, the Startup company said in a release here.

They will also be provided access to an IIT Kharagpur OCN Student Identity Card, institutional email ID for the duration of the programme and OCN Alumni Status, subject to the institute’s policies and eligibility requirements.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Suman Chakraborty said the Outreach Course Network was designed to extend the institute’s academic excellence beyond the campus and make quality education accessible to learners across the country.

He said the initiative aligns with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by enabling wider access to credit-bearing programmes delivered with IIT Kharagpur’s academic rigour and standards.

NxtWave Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Rahul Attuluri said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to preparing students for emerging opportunities in the era of Artificial Intelligence.

He said the micro-specialisation courses would provide students with structured exposure to cutting-edge areas such as Generative AI and Agentic AI, helping them acquire industry-relevant skills required in an increasingly AI-driven economy.

According to NxtWave, the collaboration aims to equip learners with future-ready technological capabilities and contribute to the development of the next generation of innovators and technology leaders.

The company clarified that IIT Kharagpur’s role is limited to offering specified micro-specialisation courses through its Outreach Course Network. The degree or programme will be awarded solely by NxtWave, and IIT Kharagpur does not award, co-award or endorse any NxtWave degree programme.
