Telangana Leads Nation in Yuva Tourism Club Registrations
Hyderabad, June 23 (TNT): Telangana has emerged as the top-performing State in the country in registrations under the Yuva Tourism Clubs initiative, accounting for nearly 5,000 of the around 9,000 registrations recorded nationwide, officials said on Tuesday.
The achievement was highlighted at an orientation meeting organised by the Telangana Tourism Department at Begumpet here to discuss the implementation strategy and operational framework of the Yuva Tourism Clubs and Telangana Darshini Programme.
Representatives from various educational departments, universities, educational institutions and other stakeholders participated in the meeting.
The Yuva Tourism Clubs programme is aimed at creating awareness among students about Telangana’s tourism, cultural, heritage and ecological assets while promoting responsible tourism among the youth.
The initiative encourages students to participate in heritage awareness campaigns, tourism-related activities, environmental conservation programmes and the promotion of local culture and traditions.
The Telangana Darshini Programme seeks to provide students with educational exposure visits to important tourist destinations, heritage sites, cultural centres and eco-tourism attractions across the State.
Addressing the meeting, Special Chief Secretary, Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture Department, Vani Prasad, said Telangana’s leading position in Yuva Tourism Club registrations reflected the enthusiastic response from educational institutions and students towards tourism promotion initiatives.
The meeting focused on the formation and functioning of Yuva Tourism Clubs, institutional coordination, student participation, awareness-generation activities and the effective implementation of the Telangana Darshini Programme. Stakeholders also shared suggestions for strengthening the programmes across the State.
Among those who attended the meeting were Tourism Director Ranjeet Nayak, TGTDC Managing Director Ms Gouthami, Heritage Director Arjun Rao, NITHAM Director Prof Venkata Ramana, Higher Education Chairman Bala Kishta Reddy, Officials of School Education, College Education, Technical Education and District Tourism Officers.
The Tourism Department said the initiatives are intended to instill a sense of pride among youth in Telangana’s rich heritage and tourism potential while encouraging greater participation in responsible tourism activities.
