ACB Books Nizamabad Excise Superintendent in DA Case; Assets Worth Rs 3-Cr Unearthed

Hyderabad, June 23 (TNT): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Telangana, has registered a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case against Kommuri Mallareddy, District Prohibition and Excise Officer (Excise Superintendent), Nizamabad district, for allegedly acquiring assets disproportionate to his known sources of income through corrupt practices and dubious means during his service.

Searches were conducted on Tuesday at the officer’s residence and 10 other locations linked to him, his relatives, benamis and associates following the registration of the case under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, the Bureau said in a release here.

During the searches, officials detected five structures, including four residential houses and one commercial block, besides eight open plots and 10.23 acres of agricultural land.

The searches also led to the seizure of cash amounting to about ₹3.31 lakh and bank balances of around ₹50 lakh.

Three bank lockers standing in the names of the officer’s wife and family members were also identified and are proposed to be opened during the course of the investigation.

In addition, officials found a Grand Vitara car and a TVS Scooty.

The total value of the assets detected during the searches is estimated at around ₹3 crore based on document value, while the market value of the immovable properties is expected to be significantly higher.

The ACB said further verification of additional assets is underway and the investigation is continuing.

The accused officer is being produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases Court, Nampally, Hyderabad, for judicial remand.
