Revanth, Kishan Reddy Staging Drama Over Metro Rail to Cover Rs 30,000 Cr Scam: BRS

Hyderabad, June 23( TNT): BRS Working President and Former Minister ,K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Tuesday alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy were jointly staging a political drama over the Hyderabad Metro Rail issue to divert public attention from an alleged ₹30,000 crore scam involving Metro Rail-linked assets.

Addressing an extensive meeting of BRS cadres in Serilingampally in the city, KTR charged that Revanth Reddy was attempting to hand over nearly 250 acres of prime Metro Rail-linked land and assets worth around ₹30,000 crore to his family members, relatives and close associates.

He alleged that the Chief Minister had pressured L&T Metro Rail officials and forced them out of the State as part of a larger plan to gain control over the assets.

Claiming that the State government was preparing to take over L&T Metro Rail’s debt burden of nearly ₹14,000 crore, KTR said the move was aimed solely at acquiring Metro-linked properties while transferring financial liabilities onto the people of Telangana.

“The Chief Minister’s sudden love for the Metro Rail project is only a cover for a much bigger scam,” KTR alleged, adding that the BRS had consistently exposed the Congress government’s alleged irregularities and was now alerting the public to another major financial scandal.

He asserted that Telangana would soon know who ultimately acquires the Metro-linked lands worth ₹30,000 crore and how those assets reach individuals connected to the Chief Minister.

Questioning the role of both the BJP-led Centre and the Congress government in Telangana, KTR asked why the proposed Metro Rail expansion from Lakdikapul to Patancheru, submitted during the previous BRS regime, had not received Central approval.

He noted that Metro projects were sanctioned for several smaller cities in Uttar Pradesh while Telangana’s proposals remained pending.

Alleging political collusion between the Congress and BJP, KTR said Revanth Reddy and Kishan Reddy pretended to be rivals in Hyderabad while working together in New Delhi for political convenience.

The former minister also accused the Chief Minister of shelving the Hyderabad Airport Metro Express project launched by the previous BRS government.

He said the project, which connected the Financial District to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport without major land acquisition, would have been operational by now had it not been discontinued after the change in government.

KTR maintained that while the Congress government had initiated the Hyderabad Metro Rail project, it was former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao who ensured that more than 70 per cent of the project was completed and made operational.

Launching a sharp attack on Revanth Reddy, KTR alleged that the Chief Minister’s governance was marked by the dismantling of welfare programmes and development initiatives introduced by the previous government.

He also accused the Congress government of demolishing houses in Hyderabad and using the proposed Musi River project as a pretext for large-scale irregularities.

Questioning the government’s priorities, KTR asked how it could mobilise funds for projects worth over ₹1.5 lakh crore while claiming a lack of resources to fulfil the guarantees promised to the people.

KTR also criticised Serilingampally MLA Arikepudi Gandhi for defecting to the Congress party and challenged him to reveal the funds secured for the constituency during the past two years.

Calling upon party workers to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level, KTR urged cadres to intensify membership enrolment and actively participate in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) programme.

He expressed confidence that the people of Telangana were awaiting the return of BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) to power.
