PM-VBRY Creates 15 Lakh Jobs, Incentives Worth Rs 2,400 Crore Released: Modi

New Delhi, June 19 (TNT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) has supported the creation of 15 lakh employment opportunities across the country, while announcing the release of incentives worth around Rs 2,400 crore under the scheme.

Addressing beneficiaries, industry representatives and stakeholders associated with the scheme, Modi said PM-VBRY is aimed at strengthening employment generation while expanding social security coverage for first-time employees.

He said the scheme supports both employees and employers by encouraging job creation and helping young people entering the workforce for the first time.

According to the Prime Minister, nearly 70 lakh new jobs have been created under the initiative so far, with an equal number of first-time employees brought under the social security net.

Around 20 lakh youth have completed six months in their first jobs, while nearly 10 lakh beneficiaries have already received incentives after reaching that milestone. More than Rs 2,000 crore has been directly transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

Modi said India’s demographic strength and youthful population remain central to the country’s goal of becoming a developed nation.

He highlighted government initiatives in infrastructure, manufacturing, startups, innovation and digital technologies as key drivers of employment generation.

He noted that government investment exceeding Rs 12 lakh crore in infrastructure and financial assistance of more than Rs 33 lakh crore under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana have contributed significantly to employment and self-employment opportunities.

The Prime Minister said India’s startup ecosystem has expanded rapidly, growing from around 500 startups a decade ago to more than two lakh registered startups today.

He also highlighted opportunities emerging from sectors such as drones, digital services, artificial intelligence, green energy and biotechnology.

Emphasising the need for a skilled workforce, Modi said talent, innovation and quality would be the key determinants of economic success in the 21st century and called upon industry to invest in training, mentorship and skill development.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting youth, entrepreneurs and job creators as India advances towards the goal of becoming a developed nation.
