Telangana CM Thanks Centre, Army for Nod to Gandhi Sarovar Project
Hyderabad, June 19 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday expressed gratitude to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Ministry of Defence and the Indian Army for granting permission to the State Government to undertake work on the Gandhi Sarovar Project at Bapu Ghat in Hyderabad.
In a statement, the Chief Minister said the approval marks a significant milestone in the government’s vision for the comprehensive rejuvenation of the Musi River and the development of its riverfront.
“This approval marks an important milestone in the Government of Telangana’s vision for the comprehensive rejuvenation of the Musi River and the transformation of its riverfront into a vibrant ecological, cultural and public asset for the people,” Revanth Reddy said.
He thanked the Ministry of Defence and the Indian Army for their support and cooperation in facilitating the project.
The Chief Minister said the Gandhi Sarovar Project forms part of the broader Musi Riverfront Development initiative aimed at restoring the river ecosystem and creating public spaces for recreation, culture and environmental sustainability.
The State Government has identified the Musi rejuvenation programme as one of its key urban development initiatives for Hyderabad.
