Wyra (Khammam Dist.),Feb 8 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Saturday said the municipal elections in Wyra are a decisive political battle between development under the Congress and years of neglect under previous regimes.
Stating that he is both a native of the Wyra region and the Deputy Chief Minister, Bhatti said he would personally take responsibility for the town’s all-round development.
Addressing during the municipal election campaign here, he asserted that the Congress would not allow anyone to obstruct Wyra’s progress and challenged opponents who stand in the way of growth.
He said every major development activity in Wyra including roads, drainage systems, colonies for SCs and STs, electricity facilities, hospitals, colleges and degree colleges took place only during Congress rule, while those who governed for the past ten years failed to initiate a single new project.
Calling the municipal elections a referendum on Wyra’s future, he asked voters to decide whether the town should move forward with planned development or be pushed back into neglect. He urged people to ensure the victory of all Congress alliance candidates.
Highlighting ongoing projects, the Deputy Chief Minister said the ₹200-crore Young India Integrated School is a major boon to Wyra.
He added that a 100-bed hospital providing free treatment to the poor is under construction, funds have been sanctioned for a junior college, the ITI is being upgraded into an Advanced Technology Centre, and a Polytechnic College has also been approved.
Referring to traders, Bhatti said he immediately cleared the file for a new shopping complex after roadside shops were demolished earlier, leaving traders without proper space.
He also said the proposal for an underground drainage system is being fast-tracked.
On agriculture, he said the Wyra Project is being strengthened, with the second phase of canal lining works taken up after the Congress returned to power, assuring that funds would not be a constraint.
He also recalled that the Gram Panchayat building was shifted from the tank bund to the main road and named after Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy during Congress rule, and said funds have been allocated for a modern cremation ground.
The budget for the Muslim minority community has been enhanced, assuring further support for development works, he added.
