Hyd: Drug Peddler Held in Madhapur; MDMA, OG Kush Ganja Seized

HYDERABAD, June 14 (TNT) : The Madhapur Police, along with the Special Operations Team (SOT), Kukatpally, arrested an alleged drug peddler and seized MDMA and OG Kush ganja during a raid at an apartment in Madhapur, police said on Sunday.

Acting on credible information, police conducted a raid at an apartment in Chandra Naik Thanda, Madhapur, on Saturday and unearthed an alleged drug distribution and consumption network operating from the premises.

A police team, accompanied by mediators and the Clues Team, searched the apartment and apprehended the accused, identified as Dhanekula Tharun Teja (22), a resident of Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.

According to police, the accused was found in possession of prohibited narcotic and psychotropic substances and allegedly confessed to procuring and supplying the contraband.

During the search, police seized 15 grams of MDMA, 382 grams of OG Kush ganja, nine mobile phones, two weighing machines, drug consumption materials and packing articles.

Investigators said Tharun Teja was allegedly procuring MDMA and OG Kush ganja from suppliers based in Vijayawada and distributing the substances in Hyderabad.

Police identified two alleged suppliers, Karthik and Pruthvi, both residents of Vijayawada, who are currently absconding. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend them and identify the source of the contraband.

During the raid, police found eight young persons inside the apartment allegedly consuming prohibited substances. According to investigators, they disclosed that they had procured MDMA and OG Kush ganja from the arrested accused for personal consumption.

Police said further investigation is underway to trace the absconding accused, identify additional links in the network and establish the complete drug supply chain.

Madhapur Police appealed to the public, particularly youth and students, to stay away from drugs and urged parents to monitor their children’s activities and guide them against substance abuse.

Citizens were also requested to share information regarding drug peddling or consumption with Cyberabad Police, with officials assuring confidentiality of informants.

Police said the operation was carried out under the supervision of Ritiraj and Shoban Kumar. The coordinated efforts of the SOT, Kukatpally, and Madhapur Police Station teams were appreciated by senior officials.
