SCR to Implement Access Control System at Charlapalli Railway Station from June 15

Hyderabad, June 13 (TNT): South Central Railway (SCR) will implement an Access Control System at the south side of Charlapalli Railway Station from June 15 to streamline vehicular movement, regulate pick-up and drop-off activities and enhance passenger convenience at the newly developed coaching terminal.

In a release, SCR said the system will come into effect from 00:00 hours on June 15 at the South Terminal Building (Platform No. 9 side) of Charlapalli Railway Station, which has been developed as a modern coaching terminal to decongest existing railway stations in Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Kacheguda and Lingampalli.

The new terminal is equipped with spacious waiting halls, modern platforms, lifts, escalators, premium modular toilets, improved signage systems and enhanced passenger information facilities.

It also provides 6,622 square metres of dedicated parking space for two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers.

Under the new system, vehicles entering the station premises for pick-up and drop-off will be allowed free exit within 20 minutes.

SCR said the access control mechanism would ensure smooth traffic flow, prevent unauthorized parking and facilitate unobstructed pedestrian movement in front of the station building.

The system will feature digital ticketing for all vehicles, digital receipts showing entry and exit timings, and automated calculation of charges.

Vehicles proceeding to designated parking areas will not be charged under the access control system.

As per the notified charges, vehicles exiting within 20 minutes will not be charged.

Vehicles staying between 20 and 30 minutes will be charged ₹50, those staying between 30 and 45 minutes ₹100, between 45 and 60 minutes ₹200 and beyond 60 minutes ₹500.

For designated parking areas, four-wheelers will be charged ₹20 for the first two hours and ₹10 for every subsequent hour or part thereof, while two- and three-wheelers will be charged ₹15 for the first two hours and ₹10 for each additional hour.

According to SCR, the initiative will help reduce congestion, improve traffic management and provide easier access to autos, taxis, buses and other modes of transport while ensuring transparent and efficient parking operations at the station.
