20k Cr Push to Transform Hyderabad into Global-Scale City: Dy CM Bhatti

Hyderabad, Feb 6 (TNT): The Telangana government has earmarked a massive ₹20,000 crore for the comprehensive development of Hyderabad over a short span of two years, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu announced here on Friday.

Addressing the gathering as chief guest at the CREDAI Property Exhibition Show, organised by CREDAI here, Bhatti said such a large, city-specific allocation was unprecedented in the state’s history.

He said the capital infusion is already delivering tangible outcomes, with several projects completed and many others progressing rapidly.

He noted that Hyderabad is no longer competing only with other Indian cities but increasingly with leading global cities on parameters such as quality of infrastructure, ease of living, and investment attractiveness.

Of the total allocation, ₹1,950.52 crore has been earmarked within GHMC limits, ₹12,500 crore for strengthening water supply and sewerage infrastructure under the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, and ₹4,365 crore through the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority for planned urban expansion, he said.

He said these investments are reducing travel time, improving logistics efficiency, and pushing up land and asset values, thereby benefiting real estate, commerce, and industry.

Calling the merger of 27 surrounding municipalities into GHMC a historic reform, Bhatti  said the move enables uniform civic services, integrated planning, and a single development vision within the Outer Ring Road region—critical for long-term investor confidence and ease of doing business.

Under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure Programme (H-CITI), projects worth ₹7,032 crore are underway, including 45 flyovers and underpasses and 10 major road-widening works, he informed.

The Deputy CM said Hyderabad’s growth is underpinned by institution-building, policy stability, and people-centric governance, creating a predictable environment for real estate, infrastructure, and allied sectors.

Under the Telangana Rising Vision 2047, the Core Urban Region Economy is central to driving employment, innovation, and global capital inflows, he said.

Reiterating the government’s support to developers and investors, Bhatti said Hyderabad is being built not just with infrastructure, but with trust in governance, transparency, and long-term sustainability, ensuring it remains one of India’s most investment-friendly metropolitan markets.
