Telangana Govt Makes Elaborate Arrangements for Annual Fish Prasadam Distribution in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, June 6 (TNT): The Telangana government has made elaborate arrangements for the annual Fish Prasadam distribution to asthma patients at the Nampally Exhibition Grounds on the occasion of Mrugasira Karthi on June 8, expecting lakhs of devotees from across the country.

State Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, along with Fisheries Minister Vakiti Srihari and Fisheries Corporation Chairman Mettu Saikumar, who inspected the venue on Saturday and reviewed the arrangements, assured that every devotee would receive the prasadam and the distribution would continue uninterrupted till June 9 if required.

He said the Fisheries Department has arranged around 1.40 lakh Murrel (Korraminu) fishlings for the event.

The minister directed officials to ensure seamless coordination among all departments and take comprehensive measures to prevent inconvenience to visitors.

During the inspection, he reviewed distribution counters, queue lines and barricading arrangements and ordered the installation of fans and coolers to provide relief from the summer heat.

He instructed police officials to maintain round-the-clock surveillance through the control room, prevent overcrowding and stampedes, and ensure effective traffic management, particularly in the Nampally area.

CCTV monitoring, deployment of She Teams and public announcements cautioning visitors against pickpocketing have also been arranged.

Officials have been directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply, adequate drinking water facilities and the availability of waterproof generators. Ambulances, medical camps equipped with essential medicines and CPR teams will be stationed at the venue to provide emergency medical assistance.

Ponnam Prabhakar said all departments would coordinate through dedicated WhatsApp groups and a central control room until the conclusion of the event. Fire engines will remain on standby, while electrical installations across the venue will be continuously monitored to prevent accidents.

Appealing to people to participate in the event irrespective of caste, religion or political affiliation, the minister said ensuring a healthy Telangana was the government’s objective.

Fisheries Minister Vakiti Srihari said the Bathini family has been distributing the fish prasadam under government auspices for the past 176 years and described it as a traditional remedy believed by many to provide relief from asthma and breathing-related ailments.

MP Anil Kumar Yadav said officials were expediting arrangements under the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to ensure the smooth conduct of the event on June 8 and 9.

Earlier, Hyderabad District Collector Dr. Priyanka Ala and Additional Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal inspected arrangements related to drinking water, electricity, stage setup, queue lines, barricading and VIP movement.

Senior officials from GHMC, Revenue, Fisheries, Police, Electricity, Medical and Health, Roads & Buildings and other departments participated in the inspection.
