Lodge Keys to Conduct CPR and AED Training Programme in Hyderabad on June 6

Hyderabad, June 2 (TNT): Lodge Keys No. 297, the city’s primary unit of Freemasonry, will organise a CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation )  and AED Training Programme on June 6 at the Goshamahal Baradari Masonic Building in Goshamahal in the city in collaboration with GVK Green Health Services (formerly GVK EMRI).

The programme, scheduled from 2 pm to 5.30 pm, forms part of Lodge Keys’ community outreach initiative, “Be a CPR Ambassador”, which aims to train 1,000 citizens in the life-saving skill of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

CPR is an emergency first-aid procedure administered when a person’s heart stops beating or breathing ceases. Timely intervention during the crucial “golden minutes” before professional medical assistance arrives can significantly improve survival chances.

According to the organisers, Lodge Keys has trained 758 citizens free of cost over the past one-and-a-half years and is now only 242 participants away from achieving its target of creating 1,000 CPR Ambassadors.

The initiative has also reached more than 1,400 people through awareness seminars, with plans to educate over 10,000 citizens through future public outreach programmes.

The June 6 session will include practical hands-on training conducted by certified instructors from GVK Green Health Services.

Participants will practise CPR techniques on mannequins, helping them gain confidence and develop the skills needed to respond effectively during medical emergencies.

In addition to CPR training, participants will receive familiarisation training on the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).

An AED is a portable device used during sudden cardiac arrest to analyse heart rhythms and, where required, deliver an electric shock to restore a normal heartbeat.

The AED module will cover recognition of sudden cardiac arrest, safe operation of the device, correct placement of electrode pads, understanding AED voice prompts, and the appropriate use of CPR and AEDs together to improve survival outcomes.

The organisers said CPR and AED training should be accessible to everyone.

Participants who can afford the programme are requested to contribute ₹1,000 towards the training, while those unable to pay will be trained free of cost.

“We do not want the ability to save a life to depend on one’s ability to pay.

Anyone willing to learn CPR should have the opportunity to do so,” the organisers said.

Lodge Keys has particularly invited security guards, watchmen, auto-rickshaw and cab drivers, street vendors, domestic workers, housekeeping staff, students and other members of the community to participate.

Employers and institutions have also been encouraged to nominate eligible individuals for free training.

Participation is limited to 40 persons and registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Prior registration and confirmation are mandatory.

Individuals, NGOs, philanthropists and corporate organisations interested in supporting the initiative have also been invited to partner with Lodge Keys in expanding the CPR Ambassador programme.
