Telangana to Launch ‘Indiramma Bheema’ Insurance Scheme from June 2: Dy CM Bhatti

Khammam, May 24 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday  announced that the state government will launch the “Indiramma Bheema” scheme across Telangana from June 2 as a State Formation Day gift to the people.

Addressing a public meeting, Bhatti said the scheme would provide ₹5 lakh insurance protection to 1.15 crore families in the state, irrespective of caste, religion or economic status.

He said the Congress government was committed to fulfilling every promise made during the elections and delivering welfare schemes directly to poor households.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the government decided to introduce the insurance scheme to ensure that families do not suffer financially after the death of the head of the family in accidents.

Officials would soon visit households to collect beneficiary details, he added.

Highlighting women empowerment initiatives, Bhatti said the government’s objective was to transform women from beneficiaries into entrepreneurs.

He announced that a scheme to allot solar power plants to women self-help groups would be launched on May 27 at Rajupalem village in Errupalem mandal of Madhira constituency.

Bhatti said the government was extending interest-free loans worth ₹20,000 crore annually to women’s self-help groups and would increase the support up to ₹1 lakh crore if necessary.

He also stated that women were already benefiting from free RTC bus travel and announced that 550 special RTC buses would soon be allocated exclusively for women entrepreneurs.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the government aimed to make one crore women millionaires in the state.

Referring to the state’s food security initiatives, he said Telangana was providing premium fine rice free of cost to 1.06 crore families, with each individual receiving six kilograms of rice.

Under the Gruhajyothi Scheme, Bhatti said free electricity up to 200 units was benefiting 53 lakh families, with many households receiving zero electricity bills.

He alleged that the previous BRS government had failed to fulfil promises relating to double-bedroom houses and said the present government was providing ₹5 lakh financial assistance to poor families for construction of houses under the Indiramma Housing Scheme.

According to him, 4.5 lakh houses have already been sanctioned and the Cabinet recently approved another two lakh houses with the goal of making Telangana a hut-free state.

The Deputy Chief Minister also highlighted welfare measures for students, stating that Telangana had introduced a free breakfast scheme in government schools and was also providing midday meals to junior college students.

On agriculture, Bhatti assured farmers that the government would procure every grain of maize and paddy produced in the state at Minimum Support Price.

He said Telangana had established maize procurement centres across the state and was continuously taking decisions in Cabinet meetings keeping farmers’ interests in mind.

Accusing opposition parties of spreading false propaganda against government welfare schemes, Bhatti called upon Congress workers to counter misinformation and take details of welfare programmes directly to the people.
