Telangana CM Urges Public to Stay Alert Amid Severe Heatwave

Hyderabad, May 20 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister  A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday urged people to remain alert and follow precautionary measures in view of the severe heatwave conditions prevailing across the state following warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The Chief Minister advised residents, particularly those in North Telangana districts witnessing extreme temperatures, to avoid venturing outdoors during afternoon hours and postpone unnecessary travel, a release from CMs office said here.

Revanth Reddy directed officials to take immediate preventive measures, including ensuring adequate availability of ORS packets, uninterrupted supply of drinking water, continuous power supply and strengthened medical support for sunstroke patients in hospitals.

He also instructed authorities to set up ‘Chali Vendralu’ (free drinking water centres) in urban areas.

The Chief Minister directed State Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao to continuously monitor the situation and issue necessary guidelines to District Collectors to safeguard public health during the heatwave.

Authorities across affected districts have been asked to remain vigilant and ensure preparedness to tackle heatwave-related emergencies.
