Telangana: ACB raids HMWSSB GM in disproportionate assets case; recovers Rs 1.05 Cr cash
Hyderabad, May 19 (TNT): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday conducted simultaneous raids at multiple properties linked to a General Manager of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
According to officials, searches were carried out at nearly eight locations in Hyderabad and surrounding areas linked to the officer identified as Kumar.
During the raids, ACB officials reportedly seized around ₹1.05 crore in cash, besides recovering large quantities of gold and silver ornaments and property-related documents.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the official allegedly amassed assets worth nearly ₹100 crore, including three flats in a gated community in Hyderabad, six open plots on the city outskirts and nearly three acres of agricultural land in Nizamabad district.
The raids were conducted at Kumar’s residence in Mallapur in Secunderabad and other associated premises. Officials are also expected to examine bank lockers as part of the ongoing investigation.
Sources said there is a possibility that the searches could be extended to the residences of the official’s relatives as investigators continue to trace additional assets and financial links.
The ACB stated that the searches are still underway and the exact value of the seized assets will be determined after completion of the verification process.
