Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Seeks Transparent Probe into NEET-UG 2026 Irregularities
Hyderabad, May 14 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday expressed concern over the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 examination following allegations of paper leaks and irregularities, and demanded a transparent and time-bound investigation into the matter.
In a post on X, Revanth Reddy said the cancellation of the examination had caused enormous distress and uncertainty among lakhs of students and parents across the country.
He said nearly 22.79 lakh students who appeared for the examination held on May 3 across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad were now facing renewed anxiety due to paper leaks and serious irregularities in the examination process.
The CM said the credibility of national-level examinations must be protected at all costs and called for strict action against those involved in paper leaks and corruption, irrespective of their influence or position.
“The Government of Telangana stands firmly with the students and parents affected by this crisis,” he said.
The Chief Minister urged the Union Government and the National Testing Agency to conduct a credible investigation while ensuring that innocent students do not repeatedly suffer because of systemic failures.
He said students prepare for NEET with immense sacrifice, emotional pressure and financial burden, and observed that competitive examinations should become instruments of opportunity and merit rather than anxiety and uncertainty.
Revanth Reddy said Telangana would continue to support students in every possible manner and demanded stronger safeguards, technological protections and institutional accountability to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
The Chief Minister also alleged that similarities between the BJP and BRS in “failures, betrayal and organised corruption” had become increasingly evident.
