Kia India launches Battery-as-a-Service finance programme for Kia Carens Clavis EV

New Delhi, May 13 (TNT): Kia India on Wednesday announced the launch of its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) finance programme for the Kia Carens Clavis EV, the company’s first Made-in-India electric vehicle, with an aim to make electric mobility more accessible and affordable for customers.

In a release, the company said the initiative was designed to accelerate electric vehicle adoption in India by reducing upfront acquisition costs and offering greater financial flexibility through a dual-loan financing structure.

Under the BaaS programme, separate loan accounts will be created for the vehicle chassis and battery component, enabling customers to choose flexible repayment options.

The financing model is being supported by leading financial institutions including ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Bajaj Finserv.

According to Kia India, ownership of the Carens Clavis EV under the BaaS programme starts from ₹51,520, along with a transparent battery repayment cost of ₹3.3 per kilometre.

The financing structure offers repayment tenures of up to 60 months for the vehicle body and up to 96 months for the battery component, thereby reducing the financial burden on customers adopting electric mobility.

Commenting on the initiative, Sunhack Park, Chief Sales Officer of Kia India, said the company’s sustainability vision extended beyond launching electric vehicles to creating a complete ecosystem that makes EV adoption easier and more practical for consumers.

“The Battery-as-a-Service model is a strategic step in that direction, enabling customers to experience advanced EV technology with reduced upfront acquisition costs and greater financial flexibility,” he said.

The Carens Clavis EV, introduced in 2025, had received encouraging customer response for its design, technology, practicality and overall ownership proposition.

The company also highlighted its expanding EV ecosystem across the country. Through the K-Charge platform available on the MyKia app, users can access over 15,000 charging points nationwide along with features such as EV route planning, live charger availability and digital payment facilities.

Additionally, more than 100 Kia dealerships across India are equipped with DC fast chargers, while over 267 workshops have been made EV-ready to support electric vehicle customers, the release added.
