Telangana CM invites Governor for Statewide Anti-Drug Pledge Programme on June 12
Hyderabad, May 11 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday invited Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla to participate in a statewide mass pledge programme against tobacco, alcohol and drugs to be organised on June 12 on the occasion of the reopening of schools across Telangana.
The Chief Minister , who met the Governor at Raj Bhavan here, briefed him about the state government’s new educational kits distribution programme for students studying in government schools.
According to officials, the kits will include uniforms, textbooks, notebooks, school bags, sportswear and other essential study materials.
During the meeting, Revanth Reddy also informed the Governor about the measures being taken by the government to curb drug abuse among students in schools and colleges.
The Chief Minister said educational institutions have been instructed to remain vigilant to ensure students do not fall prey to drug addiction and substance abuse.
The mass pledge programme and related awareness activities will be jointly organised by the School Education Department, Police Department and EAGLE.
The government plans to create awareness among students, teachers, parents and educational institution managements regarding their collective responsibility in maintaining drug-free campuses across the state.
The Chief Minister also informed the Governor that detailed plans of the programme would be shared with Raj Bhavan in advance for review.
