Grace Cancer Foundation Expands to North-East, Signs MoUs with Meghalaya Government

Hyderabad/Shillong, Feb 3 (TNT) Strengthening India’s preventive healthcare ecosystem, Hyderabad-based Grace Cancer Foundation (GCF) has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Government of Meghalaya to expand cancer awareness and early detection services in the North-Eastern region.

The MoUs, announced on World Cancer Day, pave the way for free cancer screening programmes in Meghalaya and Tripura starting February 2026, with a focus on reaching underserved and remote communities.

Founded by noted surgical oncologist Chinnababu Sunkavalli, the Foundation has been active in cancer prevention, screening and patient support for over 12 years.

In a release here on Tuesday , GCF said the initiative underscores the importance of early detection in reducing cancer-related morbidity and mortality.

In 2025 alone, the Foundation screened more than 61,000 individuals, resulting in over 1,000 early cancer detections.

For 2026, it plans to screen over one lakh people across its programmes.

The expansion follows an appeal by Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Verma, who urged the organisation to extend compassion-driven healthcare services to the North-East.

As part of the rollout, GCF’s WAY Model of Screening will be formally launched during the 2nd Meghalaya Cancer Conclave 2026 in Shillong, integrating awareness, timely diagnosis and referral pathways into the public health framework.

Over the past 12 years, Grace Cancer Foundation has reached nearly 1.4 crore people across 130 countries, evolving into a holistic health movement focused on education, early detection, timely treatment, rehabilitation and research aimed at reducing the cancer burden.
