Hyderabad, May 5 (TNT): DEEP Trust (Disease Eradication Through Education and Prevention), a non-profit organisation focused on preventive healthcare and community welfare, on Tuesday announced the launch of its flagship initiative “Happy Wheels”.
As part of the initiative, the Trust will donate a TATA Winger 18-seater school transport vehicle to Sri Vidhyas Centre for Special Children at a function to be held on May 6 at the Centre’s premises in Mahindra Hills, Secunderabad.
The initiative is being supported by CSR partner Hexagon AB/Octave.
The Centre, which caters to children with special needs, has been facing transportation challenges, affecting regular attendance and access to education and therapy services.
The “Happy Wheels” initiative aims to provide safe and reliable transport for children, enabling them to attend classes consistently and participate in educational and social activities, while also easing the burden on parents and caregivers.
According to the Trust, the vehicle will be used exclusively for transporting children with special needs.
Founder and Trustee Dr Rakesh Kalapala said the initiative reflects a commitment to ensuring access to education for every child, regardless of challenges.
Founder and Trustee Dr Madhu Vasepalli said removing barriers such as transportation helps unlock the potential of children with special needs.
CEO Ms Swati Mohanty said the initiative is a step towards building a more inclusive society and called upon corporates and philanthropists to support similar efforts across the country.
She noted that lack of transport and accessibility infrastructure continues to hinder access to education and therapy for many such children in India.
