Google to set up $15 bn AI data centre in Visakhapatnam; AP CM Naidu lays foundation

Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Apr 28 (TNT):  The foundation stone for a Google Cloud AI Hub was laid here on Tuesday by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Google Global Infrastructure & Cloud Vice President Bikash Koley.

Google will establish a cloud data centre with an investment of $15 billion in partnership with Adani ConneX and Airtel Nxtra.

A 1-Gigawatt hyperscale AI data centre will be set up at Tharluvada in Visakhapatnam district.

The state government has allocated 600 acres in Tharluvada, Rambilli and Adivivaram for the project.

Designed to enable next generation AI and hyperscale cloud capabilities, the Hug brings together high density compute, clean energy powered infrastructure and high performance connectivity at scale.

This investment positions Andhra Pradesh as a leading destination for digital infrastructure and innovation.

Prior to the ceremony, the Chief Minister visited the Google Experience Zone.

IT Minister Nara Lokesh, US Consul General in Hyderabad Laura Williams, Bharti Enterprises Vice Chairman Rakesh Mittal, Adani Group Chairperson Jeet Adani and Google India representative Preeti Lobana were among those present.

Union Ministers K. Ram Mohan Naidu and Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, district in-charge Minister Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy and Vizag  MP Bharat and others attended the event.
