Hyderabad, Apr 26 (TNT): The Indian Poultry Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA) in association with the Department of Poultry Science at the College of Veterinary Science here on Sunday marked World Veterinary Day 2026, highlighting the theme “Veterinarians: Guardians of Food and Health.”
Vice Chancellor Dr. M. Gnana Prakash attended as the chief guest, while Dr. M. Udaya Kumar was the guest of honour.
IPEMA–Poultry India President Uday Singh Bayas, who attended as special guest, emphasised the need for stronger collaboration between academia and industry.
The programme, chaired by Dr. R. M. V. Prasad, brought together faculty, students and industry experts for technical sessions and discussions.
Addressing the gathering, Bayas highlighted the crucial role of veterinarians in ensuring food safety and public health, and stressed the importance of addressing misconceptions about poultry and nutrition.
As part of the event, prizes were awarded to winners of an elocution competition on “Poultry Products and Lifestyle Diseases: Myths, Facts, and Veterinary Insights,” aimed at promoting scientific awareness among students.
During the technical sessions, experts including Dr. Mujeeb Ather and Dr. Srinivas Rama Raju spoke on career opportunities, entrepreneurship and emerging trends in the poultry sector, encouraging students to explore diverse avenues in veterinary and poultry sciences.
The event underscored the expanding role of veterinarians in public health and the growing significance of the poultry industry, while inspiring the next generation of professionals.
