Hyderabad, Apr 20 (TNT): The Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) has commenced the second edition of its week-long ‘Atma Nirbharata – Karmayogi Leadership Programme’ at its Bella Vista campus here on Monday, aimed at strengthening leadership capabilities among defence and public sector leaders.
The programme, scheduled to run till April 24, has brought together senior officials from defence services, public sector undertakings, and strategic industries, the college said in a release here,
It began with a welcome address by Programme Director Lt Gen K. Surendranath (Retd.), followed by the inaugural address by Air Chief marshal V. R. Chaudhari (Retd.).
Dr N. Ramesh Kumar, IAS (Retd.), Director General, ASCI, who played a key role in designing the programme, was also present.
Aligned with the Government of India’s Karmayogi Bharat framework and the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the programme focuses on enhancing strategic thinking, leadership transformation, and technological awareness.
It aims to help officials transition from routine administration to outcome-driven leadership.
Participants include senior officers from organisations such as BEML Limited, Hindustan Shipyard Limited, Bharat Electronics Limited, Electronics Corporation of India Limited, and laboratories of DRDO, along with representatives from Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, Bharat Dynamics Limited, L&T, and other strategic institutions.
The programme features sessions by senior military leaders, policymakers, and technology experts.
Speakers include Maj Gen N.D. Prasad (Retd.), Lt Gen S. Ravi Shankar (Retd.), Giridhar Aramane (Retd.), Lt Gen (Dr) P.G.S. Pannu (Retd.), Lt Gen A.V. Subramanian (Retd.), and Commodore A. Madhava Rao (Retd.), covering topics ranging from contemporary conflicts and leadership transformation to space, missile, and emerging technologies.
Over the week, discussions will focus on India’s security environment, maritime challenges, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, quantum technologies, defence manufacturing, and public-private partnerships.
Sessions will also address defence budgeting, acquisition processes, technological sovereignty, and evolving biosecurity challenges.
Renowned scientist G. Satheesh Reddy is scheduled to speak on building a future-ready defence ecosystem using the Triple Helix model.
The valedictory session will be attended by Alok Joshi, Chairman of the National Security Advisory Board, as Chief Guest.
The programme is expected to provide participants with a blend of strategic insights and practical exposure, enabling them to translate ideas into actionable outcomes.
