DMK alliance to retain power in Tamil Nadu, BJP must be defeated: Telangana Dy  CM Bhatti

Ranipet (Tamil Nadu), Apr 18 (TNT):Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Saturday asserted that the alliance led by M. K. Stalin and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) will return to power with a decisive majority, framing the upcoming Assembly elections as a battle to defend secularism and constitutional values.

Addressing a public meeting attended by Rahul Gandhi at Pandianallur near Sholinghur in Ranipet district, Bhatti alleged that the BJP-led Centre was attempting to undermine federal principles, as well as the culture and linguistic identity of Tamil Nadu.

He said Tamil Nadu has historically led the fight for social justice and secularism, and described the election as a critical moment to resist “divisive and authoritarian politics”.

The Deputy Chief Minister credited leaders such as Periyar, C.N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi for shaping the state’s social justice framework, and said the DMK government under Stalin has carried forward that legacy with a development-oriented approach.

He asserted that the coming together of Rahul Gandhi’s political messaging and the DMK’s governance model would resonate with voters, adding that a victory for the alliance would send a strong political signal at the national level.

Highlighting Congress governance in Telangana, he cited welfare measures such as free bus travel for women, subsidised LPG cylinders, farm loan waivers, free electricity and expanded healthcare coverage, positioning them as examples of pro-people policies.

He called upon voters to back the Congress-DMK alliance, stating that the election was not merely about choosing a government but about safeguarding democratic institutions, federalism and inclusive governance.
