AP Govt to roll out Facial Recognition Attendance in Higher Education Institutions

Undavalli (Andhra Pradesh), apr 16 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education and IT Nara Lokesh on Thursday directed officials to implement robust measures for the rollout of facial recognition-based attendance in higher education institutions from the next academic year.

During a review meeting with higher education officials at his Undavalli residence, Lokesh stressed the need for greater transparency across institutions.

He reviewed details of government, aided, and private unaided degree and engineering colleges, and enquired about the progress made in capturing facial data of staff and students for the new system.

Lokesh said that the introduction of facial recognition attendance would help improve accountability and ensure quality in education delivery.

The meeting was attended by Education Secretary Kona Sashidhar, Higher Education Commissioner Narayan Bharat Gupta, and other officials.
