Hyderabad, Apr 16 (TNT): BRS Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR) on Thursday assured that all necessary support would be provided to enable athletes from Telangana to excel at the international level.
He was speaking after distributing cheques and trophies to winners of the 8th edition of the KCR Cricket Cup, organised in Warangal West constituency on the occasion of the birthday of K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), at his residence in Nandinagar, Hyderabad.
Highlighting the importance of a comprehensive sports policy, KTR said greater priority would be accorded to sports under a future BRS government.
He stated that efforts would focus on strengthening sports development in the state while also grooming athletes for global competitions.
Referring to the success of the cricket tournament organised under the leadership of Dasayam Vinay Bhaskar, he announced that similar tournaments would be conducted across Telangana next year as part of KCR’s birthday celebrations.
Dasayam Vinay Bhaskar, former Government Chief Whip, former MLA, and BRS Hanumakonda district president, said the KCR Cricket Cup has been organised successfully for the past eight years in Warangal West constituency.
He noted that the initiative has been supporting underprivileged athletes in Hanumakonda district and encouraged sportspersons to aim for international achievements.
In the 8th edition of the KCR Cricket Cup, the 51st Division team emerged as winners, while the 49th Division team finished runners-up. Cash prizes and trophies were presented by KTR.
In the Department Cricket category, the Anjali Kidney Care Centre Hospital team secured first place, while the Sankeerthana Hospital team finished as runners-up.
Several public representatives, Kakatiya Cricket Academy members, local leaders, and athletes were present on the occasion.
