Chennai, Apr 16 (TNT) : The Cyber Crime Wing, Headquarters, Chennai, has arrested three key accused in connection with the online leak of the movie ‘Jananayagan, police said on Thursday.
The case (Crime No. 47/2026) was registered on April 11 following the circulation of pirated copies of the film online.
Earlier, six persons were arrested for their role in uploading and disseminating the content.
Based on technical analysis and examination of digital evidence, the Cyber Crime Wing arrested three main accused on April 15 for their involvement in data theft and distribution of the pirated movie.
According to police, the prime accused was working as a freelance assistant editor for another film and allegedly gained unauthorised access to the reels of *Jananayagan* at an editing studio.
He later rendered the stolen data into a full movie file and shared it with co-accused, resulting in its widespread circulation online.
All three accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody, police added.
