Hyderabad, Apr 13 (TNT): The Civil Supplies Department on Monday flagged delays in the delivery of commercial LPG in parts of Telangana and warned of strict action against illegal supply and black marketing.
A review meeting chaired by M. Stephen Raveendra at Civil Supplies Bhavan, in coordination with Nikhil Chakravarthi, assessed the supply and distribution of commercial LPG with representatives from Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and hotel associations.
Officials noted that while overall supply from depots has improved, delivery delays persist in certain sectors, raising concerns over possible irregular practices disrupting the supply chain.
The department said allocations are being made based on historical consumption and sales data across hotels and industrial units, including fabrication and foundry sectors, to ensure equitable distribution of the available 70 per cent commercial LPG quota.
Any additional allocations, if received, will be released immediately to ease demand.
Announcing a zero-tolerance policy, Raveendra warned that those involved in illegal procurement or black marketing of LPG cylinders would face stringent legal action.
Distributors found overcharging or deliberately delaying deliveries will face cancellation of licences and criminal proceedings, he warned.
The department also said joint enforcement action would be undertaken by Civil Supplies and Police authorities against those exploiting consumers.
Appealing for cooperation, officials urged stakeholders, including hotel operators, industrial units and distributors, to support efforts to streamline the supply chain until the situation stabilises.
