Union Budget ignores Telangana again: BRS slams BJP–Congress, says State got ‘Zero’

Hyderabad, Feb 1 (TNT): BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KT) on Sunday strongly criticised the Union Budget, alleging that Telangana has once again been denied its rightful share by the BJP-led Centre, with the Congress-led State Government failing to secure any meaningful allocations.

Reacting to the Budget, KTR said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had made nearly 60 visits to New Delhi but returned without bringing any financial benefit to the State.

He questioned what Telangana gained from these visits and accused the State Government of lacking the political will to fight for Telangana’s interests.

KTR alleged that the much-talked-about understanding between the Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party had completely failed, as reflected in the Budget’s silence on Telangana.

He pointed out that key long-pending demands—including irrigation projects, Metro Rail expansion, the Regional Ring Road, railway projects, a coach factory at Warangal, premier educational institutions, the Bayyaram steel plant, and a mega textile park—found no mention in the Budget.

The BRS leader also faulted BJP MPs and Union Ministers from Telangana for failing to raise the State’s concerns in Parliament.

Despite representation at the Centre, he said, Telangana continued to be neglected.

Stating that neighbouring States were receiving substantial Central assistance, KTR termed the denial of funds to Telangana a “systematic injustice” and demanded accountability from Congress and BJP leaders alike.

He asserted that the latest Budget once again underlined the need for a strong regional voice to safeguard Telangana’s interests at the national level.
