New Delhi/Abu Dhabi (TNT) : Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, on Thursday announced the launch of seasonal services to Dhaka, strengthening trade, cargo and passenger connectivity between the UAE and Bangladesh.
The four-times weekly service will operate from June 26 to October 24, 2026, connecting Abu Dhabi with Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, the airlines said in a release here.
Operated using a Boeing 777 aircraft, the service will offer28 Business Class and 374 Economy seats, along with substantial bellyhold cargo capacity, supporting growing trade and logistics demand on this key South Asia corridor.
The new route will significantly enhance cargo flows, particularly benefiting export-driven sectors such as textiles, while also catering to strong passenger demand for business, tourism and family travel.
Etihad Airways Chief Executive Officer Antonoaldo Neves said Dhaka is a strategically important market with sustained demand across both passenger and cargo segments.
“This service allows us to deploy capacity where it is most needed, strengthening links between Bangladesh, the UAE and key global markets,” he said.
The airline noted that Abu Dhabi continues to serve as a key global gateway, enabling seamless connectivity between South Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America.
The move is also expected to benefit one of the world’s largest Bangladeshi diaspora communities residing in the UAE, as well as those in the United Kingdom, Italy and North America, by offering improved travel options via Abu Dhabi.
Bangladesh’s strong economic growth, driven largely by its globally significant garment and textile sector, is expected to further boost cargo demand, with the new widebody service facilitating faster and more efficient movement of goods to international markets.
The Dhaka service forms part of Etihad’s broader strategy to rebuild and expand its global network in line with demand across key international markets.
