Bengaluru, Feb 1 (TNT): Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Sunday reported a robust start to calendar year 2026, recording total sales of 33,880 units in January, a 15% year-on-year increase over 29,371 units sold in January 2025, signalling sustained business momentum in the Indian automobile market.
The growth was primarily led by the domestic market, where sales rose 17% to 30,630 units, underscoring steady consumer demand across Toyota’s core portfolio, the compay said in a release here..
Exports stood at 3,250 units, registering a modest 2% growth, reflecting stable overseas performance amid a challenging global environment.
Industry observers note that the strong domestic traction aligns with Toyota’s long-term strategy of focusing on reliable products, value-led offerings, and portfolio expansion, especially in new-energy vehicles.
A key business development during the month was the launch of the all-electric Urban Cruiser Ebella, marking Toyota’s continued investment in future-ready and sustainable mobility solutions in India.
Commenting on the performance, Mr. Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President – Sales, Service and Used Car Business, said the positive start to the year reflects customer confidence in Toyota’s emphasis on quality, safety and sustainability, while reinforcing the company’s role in supporting India’s transition towards carbon-neutral and green mobility.
With a strong January performance and increasing focus on electrification, Toyota Kirloskar Motor is well-positioned to maintain growth momentum in FY26 amid evolving market dynamics.
