Andhra Pradesh to Lead Quantum Revolution with Amaravati Quantum Valley: CM Naidu

Amaravati, Mar 31 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said the state is positioning itself as a frontrunner in quantum technology through the establishment of Amaravati Quantum Valley (AQV), leveraging initiatives under the National Quantum Missi.

Addressing a round table meeting on the quantum hardware production ecosystem, Naidu said Andhra Pradesh is aiming to secure a first-mover advantage in quantum computing, much like it had done earlier in the information technology sector.

He noted that the state had previously built a strong IT talent base by establishing engineering colleges and IIITs, despite limited infrastructure such as high-speed bandwidth at the time.

“The vision we had then is yielding results today,” he said.

Naidu highlighted that alongside IT, the state also focused on pharmaceuticals, leading to the development of Genome Valley, which played a key role during the COVID-19 pandemic by supplying vaccines to nearly 100 countries.

Emphasising sustainability, he said Andhra Pradesh is advancing towards green and clean energy, with microgrids aimed at reducing power costs and data centres planned to run entirely on renewable energy.

The state is also developing dedicated zones for space technology, drones, electronics, and med-tech, while initiatives such as AWARE will enable real-time data-driven governance, he said under the Sanjeevani project, personal digital health records are being created, along with a population management policy.

The Chief Minister said the government plans to deliver services such as AI Doctor, AI Tutor, and AI Agronomist to citizens, adding that the growth of the knowledge economy and services sector continues to drive national progress.

Stressing that “the future belongs to quantum computing”, Naidu said AQV is being developed in alignment with the National Quantum Mission.

He announced that with support from IBM, Tata Consultancy Services, and Larsen & Toubro, the state is setting up its first quantum computer.

Eight towers will be constructed in Amaravati to promote quantum technology, while efforts are underway to manufacture quantum hardware locally and develop an indigenous quantum computer within two years, including devices, cryogenics, and algorithms.

Naidu expressed confidence that Amaravati would emerge as a futuristic and highly liveable city, asserting that “Amaravati is unstoppable” and that Quantum Valley would outpace Silicon Valley in growth.

He also called on the National Quantum Mission to extend support through technology partnerships, stating that Amaravati Quantum Valley would be a key driver of India’s future growth.
